Good morning, dear teachers and fellow students,
It is an honor for me to stand here today, representing all of us as we embark on a new academic year. This day marks not just the beginning of classes, but the start of new opportunities, challenges, and growth.
As a new student who joined the school last semester, I received huge help from all the teachers in familiarizing myself with the school and the new curriculum system. What's more, at this international school, I have been able to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities that I never had the chance to experience before, such as playing football and joining the drama club.
To the new students, welcome! You will start an exciting journey filled with learning and discovery. To the returning students, welcome back! Let’s continue to strive for excellence and make the most of every opportunity.
On the way forward, let’s set high goals, work hard, and support each other. Together, we can achieve our dreams and make this year unforgettable.

Good morning, dear colleagues and students. My name is Zoe. First of all, I am very grateful to our international department for giving me this opportunity. It is a great honor to give the speech for this new semester.
I am a chemistry teacher. I find joy in reading, music, and most importantly, in education. I hope to become a teacher that students like, so I will do my best to treat each student with sincerity and love, impress every student's heart with true feelings, and guide each student with rich knowledge and noble character.
As we embrace this new beginning, let’s start our year with hopes and dreams. No matter how limited we might be, we will do our best to achieve what we dare to dream. Also, there is something magical about success. Traditionally, we do not value the second or third positions as much as we should. After all, it is not only the first person who deserves recognition and a notable status. Whether you believe it or not, each and every one of you deserves it because we all work hard and give our best. However, at the end of the day, what matters most is where do you stand relative to your yesterday, not your schoolmate who probably performed better than you.

"Education in the Age of DeepSeek: What Matters Now?"

——Rethinking Teaching and Learning for the Future

Dear teachers and students,

Happy Chinese New Year! As we embark on this hopeful new semester, I’d like to share my thoughts on something quietly reshaping our lives: DeepSeek, and the new questions it raises for education.

This Spring Festival, two interesting things happened: My 11-year-old son learned to ask insightful questions using DeepSeek, created AI images with Beanbag tools, and practiced spoken language with AI. Meanwhile, I spent nearly a month exploring DeepSeek myself. These experiences made me realize that artificial intelligence is no longer a sci-fi concept—it’s actively transforming how we live and learn.

So, how should education adapt to these changes? Let me share three reflections:

Classrooms must become more dynamic.

We’ve long followed the model of “teachers lecturing, students listening.” But when AI can deliver lessons more comprehensively and engagingly, why not reimagine classrooms as labs? Let students act like scientists—posing questions, debating ideas, and solving problems. Teachers need not be mere “knowledge deliverers” but guides who ignite curiosity and critical thinking.

Learning must grow smarter.

In the past, we spent hours memorizing facts. Now, AI retrieves answers in seconds. Shouldn’t we focus more on how to learn? Think of it like solving a puzzle: What matters isn’t memorizing each piece but mastering the strategy to assemble them.

Education must stay heartfelt.

No matter how advanced AI becomes, it can’t replace human connection. A teacher’s encouraging glance, a word of affirmation, or peers supporting one another—these are education’s irreplaceable treasures. Just as we use smartphones to capture moments, we must also learn to feel life’s beauty with our hearts.

To students:

The AI era isn’t about competing with machines but learning to collaborate with them. Like riding a bicycle, you need both balance and momentum—master technology while staying true to your unique ideas.

To teachers:

Let’s be navigators for our students, helping them find their path in this AI-driven world.

A new semester brings new beginnings. Together, let’s write an extraordinary story with wisdom, passion, and humanity.
